Proef van de Caraïbische sfeer in Key West

Day 1: Arrival at Key West by boat or by car

There are two ways to get here: either you drive down the entire Keys with a stop at Key Largo or Islamorada (where you can swim with the dolphins). But you can also take the boat directly from Fort Myers to the Keys. That way you save a 5 hour car ride. This can be very useful if you have young children. So you can discover this gem without much effort. All you have to do is enjoy the sun and the sea during a 3.5 hour boat trip.

If you want to combine our building block “Swimming with dolphins” with Key West, then you can go by car. You will stay two nights in the middle of the Keys. This is an ideal stopover during the car ride.

After checking into your hotel, you can explore Key West. For example, you can rent a bike at the hotel (or elsewhere in the area) or you can take the fun “Conch Train”. It departs every half hour from different places in town. We only provided one night on Key West, enough time you to explore the island. You would like to stay a bit longer? No problem, let us know!

Another golden tip: visit the beating heart of Key West with the kids in the evening: Mallory Square with the Sunset Celebration. Every evening the sunset is a party with jugglers, street vendors and fire-eaters with an enthusiastic audience. A good ambiance assured!

Day 2: Departure from Key West

Before you leave, visit Ernest Hemingway’s house or take a walk in Old Town.

If you came by boat, you go back to Fort Myers where you can pick up the rental car. From there you can go in all directions. Continue your journey with one of our other building blocks: “Chill on the white paradise beaches of Naples”, “Romping with the manatees” in Crystal River, “Racing at sea with the dolphins” in Clearwater, “Kayaking amongst the alligators of the Everglades” or the vibrant Miami.
