Day 1: Arrival in Chiang Mai

Upon arrival at your hotel you can recover from the long trip to the north while the children have fun in the pool.

Day 2: On Thai school benches

In the morning you leave for a local school where the children are impatiently waiting for you. You spend the morning among the children in the classroom where you learn to write your own name in Thai.

The children steal your heart with their musical performance and the teacher passionately explains how the Thai alphabet sounds. At noon you will be served a local lunch.

A day at the Thai school is very contagious: our eight-year-old son immediately wanted to exchange his Belgian school for the Thai school!

Day 4: From Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai

After breakfast there will be a 5 hour drive to Chiang Rai. On your way, you make two stops that are really worth it: the white and blue temple. The white temple, a gem of new architecture and one of the top 10 to see in Thailand. This temple is a contemporary unconventional Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai, designed by Chalermchai Kositpipat, a famous Thai artist.

We have chosen a very special lodge: the bamboo eco-lodge is a lodge on top of a mountain and a real gem to discover. It combines a luxurious, beautiful room and spectacular views, as the rooms are built against the mountainside with large terraces. Especially at the infinity pool you can enjoy the stunning view of the green surroundings.

Day 5: Cruise the mighty Mekong River with a private longtail boat

After breakfast you leave for the golden triangle where 3 countries meet at 1 point: Laos, Myanmar and Thailand. Your private longtail boat awaits you and is your vessel for a nice trip of 45 minutes on the mighty Mekongrivier. From the boat you can admire the coloured boats and fishermen’s cottages on the banks of the 3 countries.

You will also go to a viewpoint where you can see the three countries together.

Day 6: Chiang Rai - Bangkok

With a local flight we leave for Bangkok. Coming from the peaceful north, we now arrive in the metropolis of Bangkok, where you will be taken to your hotel.

You can then already make your own tour in Bangkok or take a dive in the swimming pool on the roof.

Day 7: A Foodie tuk tuk tour through Bangkok

In the evening you meet your guide and Tuk Tuk driver for an adventurous tour in Bangkok. The tuk tuk will stop now and then to get some very specific delicacies from the roodtrucks on the street. This is the perfect way to get to know the real Thai cuisine: the authentic satay meat skewers or fresh spicy chili dips (Nam Prik).

You will undoubtedly taste different types of curries, regional specialties and sweet surprises. And, of course, we will make sure you get a beer along the way.

We end up in Chinatown where you will taste a selection of Chinese Thai desserts, including the famous sesame dumplings in ginger soup (Bua Loy Nam Khing).

The children will love the tasting as well and will enjoy the exciting tuk tuk ride!

Day 8: A unique experience: cycling through Bangkok

You will be picked up early in the morning by our driver who will take you to the starting point of this tour. There are bicycles for children and seats for the little ones. The tour takes about 3 hours and can be easily done by inexperienced cyclists.

A bike tour in Bangkok is not only a perfect way to escape the heat of this huge city, it is also the easiest route to the heart of this immense and diverse metropolis.  As the main roads with dense traffic will be avoided, you will visit areas, inaccessible to cars and many other traffic. You will cycle on small roads, in narrow alleys, along local markets and on footpaths.

The tour starts in the heart of Chinatown, one of Bangkok’s most busy neighbourhoods. We cycle through winding narrow alleys, along covered markets, warehouses, shops and workshops. You can hear the operating workshops and smell the food of cooking people on the street. The local population is mainly Buddhist. They visit temples in the area, perform ritual burnings of paper, believe in spirits – all this being part of an ancient culture.

Halfway the trip we leave Chinatown and cross the Chao Phraya river. With, behind us, a magnificent view of the city skyline, we cycle into Thonburi, once the capital of Thailand (historically speaking, Thonburi was the third capital of Thailand). You immediately notice that this part of the city is much quieter: a lot greener and the people are more friendly and easy-going. We cycle through residential areas, occasionally greeted by smiling inhabitants. Now we are truly offroad! We now experience the REAL Bangkok.

Bezoek de aapjes in de mangroves

Day 9: Thai cooking workshop and an encounter with monkeys

After you have met your guide and driver, you go to the Romhub market. This is a unique attraction! The market is right next to the railway line: when the train is about to pass, the sellers remove all their merchandise from the railway. And when the train is gone, they put everything back in a few seconds.

You can then take your time to have breakfast. You continue your trip and make a stop at the Thai to cook some delicious dishes yourself and to enjoy a tasty, self-made meal.

When we were there, we got a nice kitchen apron and started immediately with the help of very good cook. We prepared Tomyam Kung and Pat Thai Kung. Really delicious!

After lunch the trip continues to the mangrove forest where you sail between the corrages in a private longtail boat. As you sail through the mangrove forest, the monkeys come out. Especially the mama monkey with baby delighted us. Our children threw food to the monkeys and enjoyed their antics when trying to catch all the tasty goodness. The monkeys jumped on the twigs and swam in the water.

After that trip we went for a swim in the sea which was of course great fun! A day full of great great experiences,  with a score of more than 10 out of 10 according to our children.

Day 10: Sleeping in floating houses on the River Kwai

Today you embark to your new stay for 1 night: the floating houses on the River Kwai.

With a small boat you sail to the floating houses, built on a bamboo raft. You have your own little cottage with jetty and hammock. Our children loved to jump from the raft into the river, let themselves be carried away a little bit by the current and then crawl on the raft again a little further. Swimming here is very safe if you wear a life jacket. When exploring the area, even our 6-year-old jumped into the water with dad. A superb location to spend the whole day!

There is no electricity in the floating houses, but in the evening they are illuminated by oil lamps. You end the day with a delicious dinner on the terrace and traditional Mon-dances on the stage of the junglerafts. A very unique experience, you won’t easily forget!

Chillen op het strand in Hua Hin

Today we will bring you to the beach paradise of Hua Hin. Time to chill out a couple of days,  enjoy the sun, beach and sea and be fully relaxed when it is time to go home again.

You can easily reach this destination in a small bus, which we can organize . However, if you prefer to stay on one of the islands, we can perfectly arrange that for you as well. You can also choose the building block Kayak on Krabi where you stay 4 days at the beachside but it also includes a sensational kayak trip along towering cliffs and deep sea caves.
