Experience an unforgettable day with the elephants
Added building block to your journey
Kananchaburi is a well-known town, especially for its “Bridge over the River Kwai”, which you will, of course, visit. You will also take the train on the “Burma Death Railways”. On this part of the railway thousands of prisoners of war worked to build the 415 km long Burma-Thailand railway. Most of them were Australian, Dutch and British. The railway was used to transport men and equipment in 1943 to the Burmese front where the Japanese fought against the British.
Upon arrival you can greet the elephants and feed them. Spend some time with these beautiful animals to observe them. Help the care workers clean the fruit and vegetables and prepare some sticky rice (the older elephants don’t have teeth anymore) to make a delicious meal for the elephants.
After lunch you can spend the afternoon in two ways. Either you will collect or plant food for the elephants. Or you can prepare the afternoon fruit baskets for the elephants.
Highlight of course is the bathing and scrubbing of the elephants. Afterwards you can feed the animals with vegetables and fruit you have prepared.
At the end of the tour you will be returned to the hotel. Take some time to relax after this exciting “elephant” day.
You leave for Bangkok and you continue your trip to Chiang Mai (building block “Drive a tuk tuk yourself and go to a Thai school”) or you travel further to chill on the beach.
You can also experience adventure in the jungle of Khao Sok.
