Drive a tuk tuk yourself and go to a Thai school
Added building block to your journey
After arrival at your hotel you can recover from the long trip to the north while the children have fun in the pool.
Ready for a well-filled day? You will be picked up at your hotel and will get a thorough training in tuk tuk driving. A tuk tuk is a colourful open-air taxi on 3 wheels, typical for this region.
With the wind in your hair, you drive through local villages, past beautiful rice fields and gold-coloured temples. Up in the mountains you can enjoy astonishing views.
We stop at an elephant reserve where you will be trained to be a real “mahout” yourself (elephant trainer). In the meantime you will enjoy a local lunch, watching the herd of elephants. You feed the elephants, make a walk with them down to the river, where you help wash the animals.
After this fun experience you sail down the Mae Wangriver by bamboo raft and return with your tuk tuk. This is a day full of splendid activities, the absolute favourite of our children.
In the morning you leave for a local school where the children are impatiently waiting for you. You spend the morning among the children in the classroom where you learn to write your own name in Thai.
The children steal your heart with their musical performance and the teacher passionately explains how the Thai alphabet sounds. At noon you will be served a local lunch.
A day at the Thai school is very contagious: our eight-year-old son immediately wanted to exchange his Belgian school for the Thai school!
Up to the next building block! Choose Chiang Rai and discover the golden triangle in your private longtail boat or cycle through Bangkok.
