Day 1: Arrival at Kananchaburi

From Bangkok or any other destination you leave, together with the guide, to the station of Wong Wien Yai where you take the train to Samut Sakhon. Be ready for a very nice train ride along the unknown places of Thailand.

You will wander through the local market, go to the bridge over the River Kwai, the war museum and the Thailand Burma Railway Centre. After lunch you will make a short train ride on the Burma Death Railways. This 415 km railway was built by thousands of prisoners of war, captured in 1943 and used to transport men and material to the front in Burma where the Japanese fought against the British.

You will then arrive at your hotel at the riverside in Kanchanaburi.

Day 2: On to the floating houses on the river!

Today you embark to your new stay for 1 night: the floating houses on the River Kwai.

With a small boat you sail to the floating houses, built on a bamboo raft. You have your own little cottage with jetty and hammock. Our children loved to jump from the raft into the river, let themselves be carried away a little bit by the current and then crawl on the raft again a little further. Swimming here is very safe if you wear a life jacket. When exploring the area, even our 6-year-old jumped into the water with dad. A superb location to spend the whole day!

There is no electricity in the floating houses, but in the evening they are illuminated by oil lamps. You end the day with a delicious dinner on the terrace and traditional Mon-dances on the stage of the junglerafts. A very unique experience, you won’t easily forget!

Day 3: Leaving the floating houses

In the morning you will visit the Hellfire pass where the prisoners of war worked during the Second World War.

After lunch at the Erawan Falls you can choose to stay here for a couple of hours. Your children will certainly enjoy it! If you like, you can climb all the way to the top of the waterfalls.
