Day-to-day program
What's included?
Where to stay?
lodge in Tenorio

Day 1: Arrival at Tenorio

You arrive at a beautiful lodge located between two volcanoes: Miravalles and Tenorio. All in all this is an ingenious jewel of an eco-building where fruit trees decorate the gardens and birds are abundantly present.

Day 2: Walking in Tenorio National Park

The nearby Río Celeste is one of the highlights of the region thanks to the convergence of minerals from the river and the volcano that creates the famous light blue shade attracting both locals and foreigners. You will make a guided walk of about 4 hours, 7 km, through the park.

Hot springs and mud pots can also be admired here. Virgin rainforests and cloud forests stretch to the impressive top of Tenorio and the region is home to rare animals such as the jaguar, the puma, the tapir and the olingo (little bears).

The hike continues upstream, with boiling water sources smelling like sulphur.
The legend says that the river owes its name to the fact that God, after painting the sky, cleaned his brushes in this water.
But when you reach a place called “Los Teñideros”, your guide will explain to you that this is the result of the chemical reaction caused by the mixture of minerals present in the volcanic massif (including brass and sulfur sulphates).

Day 3: Departure from Tenorio

Today take your time to have breakfast, let the children swim and leave for your next destination in Costa Rica.

Choose one of the building blocks : “Visit a school and play music on a farm” or “Floating through the cloud forest of Monteverde” or “Swirling mud pools in rincon de la Vieja”.
