Day 1: Arrival at Drake Bay

Watch the beautiful sunsets from this beautiful hotel! Drake Bay is an oasis of natural beauty and tranquility in our increasingly hectic world. It is located in an absolutely beautiful location with plenty of adventure: diving center, mangrove tour, visits to Corcovado National Park and much more. Thanks to the perfect location of the lodge you can easily discover this area which is described as one of the most diverse and least explored areas in the world with great biodiversity.

Snorkelen aan het eiland Cano

Day 2: Snorkeling on Cano island

After breakfast you can enjoy a half day excursion to the island of Caño, 45 minutes by boat from the lodge. The island was once an important hiding place for pirates, and it is also the place where one of the strangest mysteries in archaeology – the enigmatic stone spheres of Costa Rica – was discovered. Walking on the island itself is no longer possible, but you will have a great time snorkeling and discovering the underwater fauna.

Day 3: To Corcovado National Park

After breakfast a walk through Corcovado National Park is the first thing you must do. Together with your local English/Spanish speaking guide you will go to the San Pedrillo area, where you will start a walk through the rainforest.  Corcovado includes the only remaining ancient rainforests on the Pacific coast of Central America, and 13 large ecosystems, including low-lying rainforest, cloud forest, jolillo palm forest and mangrove swamps, as well as coastal beach areas. Perhaps you will spot some of Costa Rica’s most shy and endangered residents here, such as Harpys, the Central American Tapirs, Jaguars, Yellow Wingara’s, Yellow Squirrel Monkey. It’s wet, remote and rugged, but the paths are relatively good, and the pitches at the shunting stations are grassy and well drained.
If you’ve ever dreamed of swimming to an abandoned golden sandy beach with coconut palms, and want to rinse off under a waterfall surrounded by the greenery of the rainforest, then you’ll love Corcovado’s beaches. Watch where you swim, there are areas where hammerhead sharks (an attack has never been reported), and crocodiles and bull sharks are common in the Corcovado lagoon and the mouths of the Ríos Claro and Sirena.
You will also visit a waterfall and enjoy a packed lunch on the beach.
Return to your lodge by boat.

Day 4: Departure from Corcovado

Enjoy your breakfast and then go back to your next building block like “Sloths and monkey spotting in San Manuel Antonio Park” or go home via San Jose.
